I think a couple of you know that I had decided to attend the Salute To Supernatural convention that was held this past weekend in Chicago. I didn’t really talk about it much beforehand because I wasn’t sure what to expect or even if I would have a good time.

I needn’t have worried. Other than the usual Creation-Entertainment-Has-Head-Up-Ass Syndrome, I had a fucking fantastic time! I met some really cool new friends, got to see some actors, met Steve Carlson and Jason Manns up close and in person. It was great.

So I find myself sitting in the lobby of the hotel and I suddenly realize that I don’t know a. single. soul. that is going to be at this convention. So I had a bit of a minor freakout that I’d done this crazy thing and what the hell was I thinking? About that time, a lovely girl named Sharon was joining her friends that were sitting there in the lobby. A couple people stopped and asked questions about where to go for registration and she answered them. She then struck up conversation with me, telling me it was her first convention and so forth. Her friends had already eaten, so she and I decided to get some lunch. I probably scared the poor woman to death with my “Con Crazies I Have Known” stories, ha ha. But we had fun chatting. We then proceeded to the auditorium to see the first of the actor panels. She had a gold ticket, so we separated because I only did general admission. Later on, when it was time for Steve Carlson’s panel, she came and got me because no one was sitting beside her at that point. How freaking awesome was that, I ask you? Pretty freaking awesome, since all of a sudden I was five rows from Steve. And Sharon got some great pics of him for me as well; I can’t wait to see them.

((My reason for going, in reality, was to see Steve perform (which was later that night). And he didn’t disappoint. You know how sometimes musicians sound way better on their CDs than they do in person because of the engineering and such? SO not the case here. Steve’s voice is just as gorgeous and whiskey-soaked in person as it is recorded. And he has a beautiful, self-deprecating way about him that’s just endearing.))

Here’s where the poor planning by Creation comes in. As usual, the autograph line took, oh, seven hundred years. Thank god I wasn’t in it, is all I can say. Why, why, WHY are they so damn bad at that, I ask you?

Anyway, so I didn’t really have anyone to hang with at that point and was on the hunt of something for supper. There was this little bar area that alleged to have food, so I went there but there was no food to be had. What I did find there was even better: fangirls laughing and talking about sex (what else, right?)! And so I met [livejournal.com profile] anakin415, [livejournal.com profile] agt_spooky, [livejournal.com profile] sn_24lover, [livejournal.com profile] sprnaturalgrl, [livejournal.com profile] sammyndeansgrl1, Deanna, Megan, Sarah, Lynn and Lynn’s friend. And honestly, I kind of just glommed onto their group because they were telling hilarious stories and were just so friendly. And these ladies? These ladies made the whole trip worth it for me! I had such a great time talking and laughing with them.

They ended up shooing us out of that little bar (which was never open again all weekend, strangely--the poor bartender was probably like OMG, there were crazy women talking about mansex and pole dancing and molesting some singer, I just can't face them again!) so we went in the other bar to kill some time before Steve's concert. And then, of course, we had to get into another of Creation's interminable lines to wait to get INTO the concert. But once we did, a good time was had by all and Steve did a great job. His family was there to see him perform which was probably pretty cool for him, although I don't know how they took the "Marry me, Steve!" that was shouted from the crowd. (Sadly, it wasn't me that shouted)

Cut because I turned into Wordy McWorderson there.

OMG! *blush* I'm so glad you had a good time and I must say, meeting everyone in our little "group" was pretty much the highlight of my weekend as well!

(btw, this is Sarah. I realized yesterday that I gave everyone email addresses but not my LJ! LOL!)

I know, right? It was totally crazy. And you know how backward I am, it's a wonder I ended up talking to anyone at all. But for real, people were SO NICE.

I did! Although I didn't get to meet them in person, as I didn't have autograph tickets. They were hilarious and intelligent and hot, OMG.

Jared and Jensen were AWESOME. They were hilarious on stage during their panels (both together and alone). I didn't do photo ops or autographs, but everyone who did said they were lovely and gracious for those as well.

And damn, did they look GOOD. *overwhelmed by the pretty* It was totally worth it to see them in person, even if it was from a distance.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT WAS ME WHO YELLED "MARRY ME, STEVE!"!!!! Hee, I did it last year, too, and last year he said "Well, I AM available...". But this year, *SNIFS* he *SNIFS* said he wasn't heading down that path *SNIFS*, or something similar. BIG BOOBOOLIP!

We loved meeting you too, and how cool is it that we fucking closed the bar down for the weekend?! That is so awesome!!!!!

Was that you? That was awesome!

said he wasn't heading down that path

He said something like he didn't believe in marriage. Which means he'd totally be ok with living in sin with you (and me, we can be his harem)! Or at least that's how I choose to interpret that statement.

I never did figure out what the deal was with that bar, so I could only conclude that we scared them. I think some of the folks at that poor hotel were a little, uh, overwhelmed by the influx of Supernatural fans.
