My friend and I were playing Scene It the other night and we both answered at the same time. So we had to go to a tie breaker. And the tie breakers are much with the lame: the first one was 'who has the better driver's license photo" and the second one was 'thumb wrestle to see who is victorious'. So Vic said "I'm not thumbwrestling with you". And I said ok, we'll just do rock paper scissors.

Y'all, I had to TEACH her RockPaperScissors! I thought every american kid (hell, maybe non-american kids, too) learned that one by like age five. Isn't it in the manual??? She said she had never done it. Ever. She didn't even know what beat what?

Huh, that was weird. We did rock, paper and scisssors when I was a kid, although we thought it was just some kind of game (BOOOOOORRRRIIIIIINNGGGG), and not the better "dammit, let's settle this once and for all like proper adult" thingy.

You know, if more people did rp&s instead of dragging shit to the courts, the world would have been so much better! *uses appropiate icon*

Grinning wildly at that icon--quite appropriate, I'd say.

And if you even know it in Norway, I'm pretty sure she should have learned it here in West Virginia, since we're the ass-end of nowhere.

I think rp&s would be a great alternative to frivolous lawsuits!

I think it's pretty universal, although god knows where it started.

And I believe the ass-end of nowhere is Norway. Or at least in Norway.

I actually didn't learn RPS until I was an adult. As a kid we did "evens odds" to settle things.

A rock can break scissors. And scissors can cut paper. But I still don't understand why paper beats the rock.

It covers it and makes it blind?

Did you see [livejournal.com profile] fluttering_by's icon? Cracked me up!

Do tell-what is "evens odds"? I never heard of that one.

Oh, evens odds is boring but easy.

You pick even or odd and then you count to three and like RPS, "throw out" one or two fingers. The other person does the same, at the same time. If the fingers add up to even, the even person wins, and vice versa. Because I did not play RPS as a kid, I have to stop and think what beats what. Kind of pathetic for a person in a PhD program with a high IQ, eh?

I did not see the icon, but I'll take a look now. :-)

That is odd. I thought RPS was sort of like eenie-meanie-mieny-moe, in other words, universal.

To this day I've never done rock-paper-scissors... you'll need to come over and show me, K. :)

Never? Never, ever? But, but, but, how did you settle disputes when you were a little kid?

I WILL have to come to Indy to teach it to you!

ION, I totally loved my notecards and stickers. And I have stuff to send you too, but as usual, I SUCK. *facepalms* By the time I get it to you, it'll be for Groundhog Day instead of Christmas.
