Is someone building an Ark? I sure do hope so. It has rained here nonstop all week. Which, OK, we had a drought last year, so this is better, but still! I need to clean out the gutter above my front door, because it is sadly failing in its guttering duties. I got soaked walking out the door this morning. And I have total humidity-hair--it's foofy out to THERE.
Under the cut to spare your f-list, part the first of my trip to Kentucky:
So, last weekend I went to Kentucky in order to visit Meg and totally had a blast! This was our thwarted visit from March re-scheduled. I figured I'd give you guys a little recap of our activities. I left Thursday evening after work and while the drive itself was not bad, it rained (and rained and rained) the entire way. I guess I never realized rain could be so LOUD. Plus, there is a distinct lack of decent radio stations in southern WV—not a surprise to anyone, I'm sure.
Got there about 11ish and of course, Meg and I sat up talking until 2 AM. Because, you know, it's just so damn nice to have someone who gets it when you start talking fannish stuff, it's hard to stop once you get started. But we decided we better go to bed when neither of us could keep our eyes open any longer!
Meg's been house/ horse sitting for some neighbors, so first thing Friday, we went there to feed the horses. Who were just hilarious, because the older horse eats kinda slow so when the younger one finishes eating, she starts trying to steal the rest of his horse chow. He, however, was not down with this activity and pushed her out of the way accordingly. Also, totally sweet, elderly dog who's obsessed with Frisbee. Frisbeefrisbeefrisbee!!!!! Until he's worn out and panting and can't go after it anymore. We then proceeded to the store, where we watched Jeeves & Wooster (and she had me reading Jooster pron, people!) and had no customers. Then Meg managed to damage herself, when some bed rails in the back room fell on her arm. We were worried that we might be making a trip to the ER, but luckily it wasn't a break, just a bad bruise.
We then went to lunch and had some great Mexican food. Of which we ate entirely too much. But it was yummy. There was some really good cheese dip, it's white and sorta hot. It was great on the chips. Then we went to WalMart (ooh, how exciting, yeah?) where I bought, wait for it, vitamins! And also, Meg and I found out that there are no cranberries to be had at this time of year. I guess other people know that, but we didn't.
For supper, Meg's mum made stuffed shells which were to die for yummy. And then Meg made some outstanding muffins: chocolate chocolate chip and blueberry almond. We ate some while they were still hot, mmmmm. And yes, in true fat-girl fashion, my visits are all about the food, folks.
Stay tuned: more details to follow, including Scotch eggs and drag queens.
