Mar. 24th, 2004 09:15 amWell, I survived the computer show, with two Paxils and Rowan’s chant (bewitch the mind, ensnare the senses). I was singularly, um, unimpressed. Not sure what I was expecting, but that wasn’t it. Anyway, I didn’t buy anything except a garden/landscape design program. Since I have a yard all of my very own now, I want to do some neat plants and stuff, to make it look cool.
After the show, my friend wanted to go shopping at the mall. God help me, I despise mall shopping. And I’m no clothes shopper and that’s all she looks at. And I had to defend my purchase of a Harry Potter Lego set, which got me a raised eyebrow and the comment “you must have too much time on your hands”. Nope, just obsessed, thanks! But we did have an excellent dinner at a place called Pasta Too. Lovely little Italian place with HUGE portions. Then she got a call from her dad—her mom fell out the kitchen window. Um, what? Turns out they had locked themselves out of the house and she decided to climb in the unlocked window. Lost her balance, fell into the kitchen, broke her pelvic bone. Unreal. So it was an interesting Saturday.
Nothing new going on since then. I was productive last night and cleaned about a third of the kitchen. Man alive, it is the hugest kitchen ever! Then I watched the movie A Thousand Acres, based on the book of the same name. The book was strange, the movie was stranger. Jennifer Jason Leigh is just odd. Nice Colin Firth eye candy though.

Date: 2004-03-24 08:09 am (UTC)I read the book when it came out, so I can't really go into detail, but I do remember liking it. It's a bit slow going, but I read it while I was working midnight shift (I actually read it at work), so that wasn't a problem for me. I'm probably not the best when it comes to reading recs, cause I will read ANYTHING. If it's print, I'll read it. Especially if I don't have nay other way to occupy my brain. But overall, I'd say it's worth reading. And I'd definately read it before seeing the movie.
