Jan. 4th, 2008 08:55 amFive degrees this morning, people. Five! F-I-V-E. Let me just share that if I wanted to live in Antarctica, I'd be there not here, dammit.
Photographic proof of the ridiculousness:

Pretty, but OMG, I so can't deal. And I have to worry about being beheaded every morning.

Right outside my front door. Of course, the snow does cover up the flower pots that never got taken in the house, that's a plus.

Yes, that would be 18 inches of snow on either side of the walkway. And no, I don't shovel--usually I just sweep enough out of my way to get to the car.
ION, it's Friday and it's payday, so that's always good. Talk to me, peeps--s'up?

Date: 2008-01-04 02:29 pm (UTC)Y'know, I don't mind the snow. But I can't stand for it to go much below freezing. Even though I'm well-insulated *snort*, I don't handle that kind of cold very well. Come to think of it, I don't handle heat well either. *is delicate flower*
Whatcha doin' for the weekend?
I've been reading Blood Brothers--I really like it so far, Cal and Quinn just met.

Date: 2008-01-04 02:43 pm (UTC)I'm almost done with it...and dying for the next part! Cal and Quinn get along...rather nicely, if ye catch my drift. ;-D

Date: 2008-01-04 03:22 pm (UTC)The problem here is that in the last twenty or so years, we've gone from having quite mild winters (30-40°F) to having really cold (near 0°F). And stubborn people like me never think to buy an appropriate winter coat. *shakes head at self*
Whatchoo doing this weekend, my Pip?

Date: 2008-01-04 03:25 pm (UTC)That's the only bad (but not really) thing about Nora's books--they leave you craving more! I really liked the Garden ones (Lily, Rose, can't remember) and couldn't wait for each of them to come out.
*accepts cocoa* Marshmallows?

Date: 2008-01-04 03:41 pm (UTC)Maybe build a fire if you have a fireplace? That always made me feel cozy when the weather was at its worst.

Date: 2008-01-04 03:44 pm (UTC)But I do have snuggly flannel sheets and a down comforter--so I intend to curl up in my bed and read, probably all weekend!
Hope you had good holidays, sweetie!

Date: 2008-01-04 07:28 pm (UTC)We've got a bit of snow here too, but the worst is really the wind. It wouldn't be so bad if it was just snow a bit of cold, but the wind goes through anything, rattles the house and almost pushed me off the road today - and apparently it's going to be worse this weekend.
Thank god the winter only lasts four months!
How long do you think the snow will last in your town?

Are you having a good new year so far? How are plans for Scotland coming?

Date: 2008-01-04 07:46 pm (UTC)He's doing better. I think it helped a lot to get some of the staples out yesterday. The swelling in his leg is what is hurting him so much.
Thanks so much for asking. *HUGS* ♥

Date: 2008-01-04 07:46 pm (UTC)We've had it much like that the past few years, and either warm or cold weather would be fine with me, but the constant changes are really tiring. I'd like to know what I'll get.
Thanks for asking! :) It's a pretty good year so far:) I have to get up at 5.10am, which isn't exactly fun, but you know, you get used to it. The Scotland trip is coming along fine, I'll have to get tickets, and send in the acceptance of an accommodation offer, and after that, I don't think there'll be all that much I can do from here. Well, aside from give them even more money, for the deposit ><.
How's your year then? Are you doing well so far?

Date: 2008-01-04 08:03 pm (UTC)I get up at 5:30 AM, so I feel your pain there. But yeah, you do get used to it eventually. And I sleep in on the weekend, even though they say you shouldn't do that. It seems to work OK for me.
My year (what there's been of it) has been quite nice so far, really. I don't really make major plans for new year's eve, so that was quiet. And this is a pretty slow time at work as well, so it gives me time to catch up on things. All in all, pretty good!

Date: 2008-01-04 08:07 pm (UTC)I'm crossing my fingers for your job search--I hope the print shop thing works out. Like you said, better to be doing that part-time than something unrelated full time.

Date: 2008-01-04 08:09 pm (UTC)I do too, but I shouldn't because I do have trouble when the Monday comes. I try to get up early, but I'm an idiot and spend way too much time puttering about before I go to bed.
Don't think I'll be doing that tonight though, I'm knackered.

Date: 2008-01-04 10:07 pm (UTC)Thank you so much about the job! I am going to do everything short of begging, and hell I may even beg, to get the job. It would be so good for me and wanting to do graphic design for a career.
I loff you too Kim! ♥

Date: 2008-01-05 02:09 am (UTC)I guess I didn't realize it doesn't snow much where you are. *ponders* I think it's worse when you have those really cold temps but no snow. Makes for dangerous, icy conditions if there's the least bit of wet. Luckily I don't mind driving in the snow, but ice does scare me.
Hee. I remember sitting by the radio when I was a kid, waiting for them to call school off or have a delay. But where I'm from originally, they do it by school district. When I first came to WV I was completely puzzled at them calling off school for the whole county!!

Date: 2008-01-05 04:56 am (UTC)"When I first came to WV I was completely puzzled at them calling off school for the whole county!!" My guess is that you had more people in your old school districts than you have now in the county where you live. Around here, they will close all of the schools in a city because we don't have counties, except for the more rural parts. I work in a different city than where I live, and my work-city tends to get more snow, so I might get the day off from work but not be snowed in at my home because my home-city didn't get as much accumulation. I like those days.
